Alai Valley

What is the Alai Valley? This is a wide intermontane area, stretching from west to east between the Alai and Zaalai ranges. The Zaalai range forms the northern border of the Pamirs. The highest point is Lenin Peak, a favorite peak of climbers.

The average height of the valley is 3000 meters. In deep antiquity, a giant glacier was located at the place of the basin, traces of which can be seen to this day - with its mass it leveled and smoothed the mountainous soil.
