Works of Kazakh photographer presented at Moscow International Biennale

The works of the Kazakh photographer Damir Zhukenov were presented at the Moscow International Biennale “Fashion and Style in Photography 2021”. The exhibition entitled “Not for everyone” aroused the interest of the Moscow residents for a reason. Damir Zhukenov’s works are unique. Each block has its own unusual story, models and even clothes are thought out to the details. But everything, according to the author, have femininity, beauty and black and white color range. Such an ode to women and to the classics of photography, captured in the photos.

“This exhibition is a sign of respect to favorite photographers. These are Peter Lindbergh, Herb Ritts, Richard Avedon. It made me to take a photo beyond time. For us, style and fashion looks like this: timeless, out of geo-location. We took black and white photos so that it was not clear where and when it was shot. For us, this is the standard of taste of those photographers and we would like to get closer to them,” said Damir Zhukenov, photographer.

In total, the artist presented 32 photographs at the Biennale, which have not yet been published anywhere. The master conducted all four photo sessions during quarantine, proving that art is always modern and timely. The master cannot resist the desire to create.

“I have been attracted by creativity and art since childhood and I wanted to develop in this area. I decided to sublimate it all. It turns out that it is photography that includes all this: color, light and composition. It seems to me that I found myself in photography,” said Damir Zhukenov, photographer.

Damir Zhukenov moved to Moscow six years ago, and during this time, he has already worked with leading Russian celebrities and leading fashion publications. According to him, the secret of success lies in self-confidence, respect for the chosen path and the desire to improve skills.
