Flood control activities in Kazakhstan

More than 200 settlements in Kazakhstan will not be vulnerable to the risk of flooding in the next three years. For this purpose, a new roadmap is being developed to reduce the risks of flood threats for 2021 to 2023. Kazakh Minister of Emergency Situations Yuri Ilyin announced this at a briefing. He said that the situation is stable this year. Rescuers have already made sure that the most dangerous areas are under strict control. Comprehensive risk reduction measures were taken.

“We have enough forces and means for now. I think that events that are being conducted will allow us, first of all, to avoid losses and victims among the civilian population in the future. Secondly, they will minimize the risks for flooding of settlements. That is, this should not lead to large emergencies, which will require the involvement of the state reserve for the allocation of funding,” said Yuri Ilyin, Kazakh Minister of Emergency Situations.
