New railway route from China to Europe to pass through Kazakhstan

The transit potential of Kazakhstan is growing. Another railway route from China to Europe will pass through the territory of Kazakhstan, as well as Azerbaijan, Georgia and Romania. It is planned to be launched by a Danish company. The corridor has an open capacity, which ensures the stability of the supply chain. The route allows to deliver goods from China to Europe in 40 days, the ‘Railway Supply’ industry publication reported. The development of a new route began in March, and the first train ran in April. According to analysts of the Eurasian Development Bank, the North-South connection with the Eurasian corridors can provide about 40 percent of container traffic. Due to the transportation of grain crops, the potential volume of transportation can be about 12 million tonnes by 2030.
