Kazakhstan expects over seven million tourists this year

The natural wonders and sights of Kazakhstan can be visited by over seven million tourists this year. Five grand ring routes were prepared for travelers in all regions of the country. Each tour is designed for five to six days of stay. A total of five projects are being developed. In general, as the experience of the past years shows, a third of tourists choose tours to Almaty and Almaty region. Most of all they are attracted by Ile-Alatau, Altyn Yemel and Zhongar-Alatau national parks, Kolsai lakes, and Charyn Canyon. Lakes Balkhash and Alakol are also one of the popular destinations. Therefore, the development of engineering infrastructure in these places is a priority.

“There are many picturesque places in Kegen and Raiymbek districts of Almaty region. We are currently working on priority tourist destinations, which include the area around Khan Tengri Peak,” said Zhanar Alchimbayeva, Head of Tourism Department of Almaty Region.

On January 1, Kazakhstan launched the “Kids go free” project. Tour operators receive full compensation for the cost of a child’s air ticket when traveling within the country. This year, 20,000 children will be able to go on free air travel under this program. Their flights are subsidized by the state.

“Kids Go Free” is a new program. 17 tour operators use it. We are currently processing the first applications. Over 30 of them have been received so far,” added Daniel Serzhanuly, Managing Director of the Kazakh Tourism National Company.
