Kazakh National Museum showcases valuable artifacts from Golden Horde era

The National Museum of Kazakhstan presented the image of “Bolgan Ana” - one of the brightest representatives of the Golden Horde era. This is the first hyperrealistic sculpture of a woman based on anthropological data. According to scientists, Bolgan Ana was the daughter of Zhoshy Khan, while other researchers claim that she was his daughter-in-law or one of the rulers of the Great Steppe. In general, the items of clothing of the buried woman and the materials found next to her indicate that Bolgan Ana held a high status. This is proved by her silk robe, gold earrings and a bowl, a festive chapan, as well as a mirror and a handle made of precious metal. The exhibition is presented by the Karagandy Museum of Local History.

“We have repeatedly said that Kazakhstan is the birthplace of tulips. A tulip is depicted at the bottom of the bowl. On the sides there is a national pattern in the form of sheep horns, which indicates the continuity of generations. Our exhibition started with the National Museum, and then we plan to travel to all regions of the country in order to demonstrate the chronicle of the Golden Horde and the history of the great ruler Zhoshy Khan,” said Yerzhan Nurmagambetov, Director of the Local History Museum.
