Astana Opera theatre develops theatre art among children

The capital teenagers will have an opportunity to discover the world behind the scenes. Now, the Astana Opera Theater offers four clubs for children to learn theatrical crafts. Soon, there will be two more creative subjects for schoolchildren from 10 to 14 years old. A unique project is being implemented within the ‘Year of Children’ in Kazakhstan.

“The applications that will be submitted will be filled out. We will accept children, because we have created almost all conditions for them, they will have their own separate hall, they will work in different directions. Children will not just get acquainted, they will participate in this process. Our highly qualified theater specialists will teach them,” said Victor Carare, Deputy Director of the Astana Opera.

One of such specialists is Gaukhar Ukassova. A young woman works as a stage costumes’ sewing master in the theater. She will teach children such skills as modeling and cutting clothes, working with fabrics and patchwork. According to her, this painstaking craft requires a lot of diligence, attentiveness and, of course, selfless love for own work. This is what Gaukhar is trying to teach and instill in her students.

“Since February 1, 2022, we have started classes and today we have 4 groups. This is the first group - modeling, the second group - patchwork, the third - wood carving, the fourth - painting. And we have filled almost all the groups. The children really like everything, they are interested and we hope that at the end of the season we will have good results,” Ukassova said.

According to the theater’s leadership, the course is designed for a year. Upon its completion, children will receive certificates, as well as the opportunity to take part in various exhibitions and even performances. In this way, the theater helps them discover a wonderful world of art.
