Students to be able to obtain two diplomas - from Kazakhstan and U.S.

Starting next year, students of the North Kazakhstan State University will be able to obtain two diplomas of higher education at once, one of which is from the U.S. This was made possible thanks to an agreement with one of Arizona’s leading universities. The new educational program is expected to be launched by September. Its main areas will be agro and engineering technologies. Foreign teachers will be involved in the training process, while domestic teachers will have the opportunity to upgrade their skills abroad.

“Also, the dual-degree program students will have the opportunity to spend one semester of their studies in the U.S. at the campus of the University of Arizona. Overall, we expect that the implementation of this project will significantly reduce the outflow of young people, as well as provide them with the opportunity to receive international education without having to leave their country,” said Yerlan Shulanov, a Rector of North Kazakhstan State University.

“As part of this program, Kazakh and foreign professors will be teaching in English. We believe that as a result, our talented students will not leave the country. They now have a chance to receive an education at the international level,” added Akmaral Turgaleyeva, a Board Member of North Kazakhstan State University.

President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev spoke about the need to develop technical training in Kazakh universities at a recent meeting of the Mazhilis. The Head of State gave instructions to open branches of reputable foreign universities in the country.
