Kazakhstan approves tourist fees for foreign nationals

Kazakhstan approved tourist fees for foreign nationals. According to the Government’s decree, they will be provided for foreign guests for every day of staying in accommodation places, except for hostels, guest houses, rental housing in cities and districts. The amount of charge for foreign nationals is not included in the cost of living. From January 1 to December 31, 2022 inclusive, the rate will be 0 percent of the cost of stay, but starting from January 1, 2023 – no more than 5 percent of the cost of stay. During the year, the cost of the tourist taxes for foreign nationals will be revised depending on statistical data and seasonality. The tourist fee for an incomplete day of stay will be charged as for the whole. The operators will collect fees at the time of registration of foreign nationals at the accommodation places. The decree will come into effect on January 1 next year.
