Air travel prices go up in Kazakhstan

The prices for air travel went up following the goods and services prices. According to finprom.kz, the services of Kazakh airlines have risen by almost 9 percent. The highest jump was registered in Turkistan region, where residents saw an increase in prices by 30 percent. The top three also included Kyzylorda and Mangystau regions. Among 17 regions of the country, only prices in North Kazakhstan region remained at the same level as in October last year. Three more regions, including Pavlodar, West Kazakhstan and Akmola regions observe decrease in prices. In general, as analysts noted, passenger transportation is recovering, surpassing indicators of the pre-coronacrisis in 2019. The income of air transport companies reached 265.7 billion tenge (US$619.6 million) in the period from January to September of this year, showing an almost double growth in a year. Traditionally, the bulk of revenues came from passenger transportation, a little more than 13 billion tenge (US$30.3 million) came from cargo transportation.
