Online voting for Junior Eurovision 2021 kicks off in Kazakhstan

The names of 30 young talents who have passed the national selection of the Junior Eurovision Song Contest were announced. Online voting for the contestants has begun and will last until October 12. Kazakh citizens will have to decide who will be among the top 10 finalists. In the final, fourth, round of the competition, which will take place in early November, the jury will choose the best performer in a live broadcast on Khabar TV channel. The winner will represent the country at the prestigious song contest in Paris on December 19. The video applications were originally submitted by 819 little residents of Kazakhstan. The repertoire was very diverse, from modern lyrical to folk songs. Kazakhstan will take part in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest for the fourth time. This was made possible by the fact that Khabar Agency has been an associate member of the European Broadcasting Union since 2016.

“We have a lot of expectations from this project this year too. For two years in a row, Yerzhan Maksim and Karakat Bashanova have returned with a victory, I dare say. Therefore, we expect good results from the participants this year as well,” said jury member Kanat Aitbayev.

“If we talk about why this year is special, then, of course, it’s because this year the organizers decided, took such a responsibility for holding the children’s international contest in Paris in an offline format. As we remember, last year Karakat Bashanova competed and performed at the Junior Eurovision Song Contest, which was held online due to the pandemic. This year we were also afraid and worried that the contest is again going to be held in an online format, but, thankfully, it’s not, so the organizers made us happy with their decision,” added Dinara Bissembina, Director of Khabar TV Channel.
