Explosions in Zhambyl region kill five

Five people were killed, several went missing in the explosions in Zhambyl region. The causes are being investigated, said Kazakh Minister of Defense Nurlan Yermekbayev at a special briefing. Dozens of people sought medical treatment. About 60 people were slightly injured, but they were sent home. According to Kazakh Ministry of Emergency Situations, 28 militaries are currently in hospitals of the region. Six of them are in serious condition. Earlier, Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev asked the population to stay calm and be careful. “The work to eliminate the fire continues. Rescuers, militaries, doctors and all involved persons are actively operating. Unfortunately, the number of victims grows. The whole situation is under control. I ask residents of Taraz city and villages to stay calm and cautious,” the Head of State wrote on his Twitter account. More than 100 militaries and about 25 units of military equipment are involved at the site of the explosions.
