Senate returns draft law on military service to Mazhilis for revision

The Senate returned the draft law on military service to the Mazhilis. The members of the Upper House want to make several amendments to the document related to the regulation of the rights of those who defend their homeland. According to the bill, those militaries who have children with disabilities will be able to privatize a rent-free apartment. As such, the adoption of the bill will improve the social security of military personnel, as well as family members in case of their death. It will be possible to receive housing from the state only once. In addition, the authorities will approve a new procedure for accountability of military personnel. This also applies to the use of special military equipment. The MPs will also revise the rules on the age and dismissal of employees. It is proposed to conduct a polygraph examination in performance review.

“As you know, the work of military personnel and employees of special state bodies is very responsible. Therefore, the legal, material and social protection of them and their families is one of the most important tasks of the state. The document also prescribes the improving of the procedure for serving by militaries and special government agencies. We hope that after the adoption of the bill, the issue of housing for military personnel, employees of special agencies and members of their families will be comprehensively resolved,” said Maulen Ashimbayev, Chairperson of the Senate, the Upper House of the Kazakh Parliament.
