New agrometeorological forecasting online application now available in Kazakhstan

When is it good to start sowing, will there be drought, how much moisture is in the soil? A special online application can help the farmers by providing the answers to these concerning questions. Kazhydromet specialists developed the AgroData program. It publishes actual and forecast agrometeorological information obtained from the state observation network. More than 80 Kazakh farms have already tested the novelty in a pilot mode over the past two years. The farmers reported a cost reduction of up to 10 percent. Developers say that the application is available to any user. There are no similar projects in the entire Central Asia.

“In the near future we plan to develop a mobile version of this application, the work of which will not require Internet connection,” said Nonna Loenko, spokesperson for the National Hydrometeorological Service.
