Kazakhstan registered an increase in coronavirus cases again. 2,549 people caught the infection in the past day. Only 2,283 cases were recorded the day before. The city of Almaty had the highest number of 557 infected patients. 452 COVID-19 cases were detected in the capital of Kazakhstan. 348 people tested positive in Karagandy region. The total number of the infected has exceeded 353,000 since the beginning of the pandemic.

Meanwhile, Kazakh Health Ministry responded to criticism about the possibility of receiving the second dose of the vaccine on the 21st day. Some Kazakh residents complained that when they came to a medical facility for a second shot, they were turned down.

The relevant department explained that medical organizations of the country have a sufficient amount of vaccine against coronavirus: “This week, 400,000 units of the second dose are expected to arrive. The supplies of anti-coronavirus drugs to the country are going according to the schedule and in sufficient quantities, there is no shortage,” the Health Ministry said.

They explained that today the country has about 200,000 doses of the first component, and more than 220,000 doses of the second component of the Sputnik V vaccine. In addition, there are more than 28,000 doses of the domestic QazVac vaccine and about 350,000 doses of the Hayat-Vax vaccine in stock.
