Kazakhstan’s health care system is ready to fight the new wave of coronavirus. The country has a two-month supply of drugs to combat COVID-19 and a sufficient supply of vaccines for mass immunization and revaccination of the population. Beds for seriously ill patients were prepared in hospitals. However, doctors are asking citizens not to forget about precautionary measures.

“The main thing is to stay alert. Quarantine measures must be strictly observed. It has already been proven that the main panacea for this disease is vaccination. Immunized citizens are less likely to end up in a hospital bed or on a ventilator. Also, citizens should not neglect the booster shot. They have several vaccines to choose from. Currently, QazVac and Sinopharm are available. Citizens over the age of 60 can be revaccinated with Pfizer,” said Yerzhan Baitanayev, a spokesperson of Sanitary and Epidemiological Control Committee, Health Ministry.

The country’s chief sanitary doctor issued a new decree in response to the sharp aggravation of the epidemic situation. According to the document, 70 percent of employees of state bodies and national companies, as well as other organizations, have to be sent home to work remotely. School and university students will be on distance learning until February 6.
