Health Ministry reports on epidemiological situation in Kazakhstan

Kazakhstan is considering a commercial supply of Pfizer vaccine. In the meantime, the U.S. antiviral drug is available in the country only to adolescents, pregnant and lactating women. Kazakh Minister of Health Alexey Tsoy told about this during a briefing. According to him, as of today, the epidemiological situation in the country has stabilized. The incidence of coronavirus has decreased 3.4 times over the past two months. Up to 1,500 cases of infection are recorded per day. Thus, Kazakhstan has moved to the ‘green’ zone. Meanwhile, Tsoy stressed that the ministry has purchased over 4 million doses of Pfizer vaccines, which will cover about 2,115,000 people. Health Minister Alexey Tsoy said that revaccination of the population against coronavirus in Kazakhstan will begin on November 22 and will take place in two stages. At the briefing, he told in detail who will be vaccinated first.

“Medical workers, teachers, personnel and contingents of local self-government, closed children's institutions and law enforcement officers will be the first to get a booster jab. Citizens over 60 years of age, as well as people who have independently taken a test and have a negative result for COVID-19 antibodies, are also eligible for revaccination without regard to the established terms. At the second stage, the rest of the citizens who have completed the primary vaccination and whose revaccination period is from January 2022 will be eligible to receive a third dose of the vaccine,” said Alexey Tsoy, Kazakh Health Minister.
