Coronavirus situation in Nur-Sultan worsening

Epidemiological situation in the capital of Kazakhstan remains unfavorable. Nonobservance of sanitary rules, violation of self-isolation and quarantine leads to the increase in coronavirus cases. This was reported at a briefing by Chief State Sanitary Doctor of Nur-Sultan Sarkhat Beisenova. She listed the places where city residents get infected more often.

“The contagion in markets increased from 7 to 15 percent, in retail sites – from 19 to 24, in offices from 13 to 28, in parks and recreation areas from 15 to 18. Also, the percent of infected who did not deny participation in holding mass events, including weddings, celebrations and others increased from 0.8 to 7 percent. 8 percent of patients use public transport all the time,” Beisenova said.

According to Sarkhat Beisenova, the situation is aggravated because entrepreneurs refuse to comply with quarantine requirements. Some business entities continue to work behind closed doors whatsoever, the speaker noted. There have been more than 250 such violations in the capital over the past 2.5 months, mainly at catering facilities. The chief epidemiologist of the city also spoke about the violations detected using the Ashyq application.

“Since the introduction of the Ashyq project, 8,518 visitors who violated home quarantine have been detected at the participating objects. Of them, 5,065 visitors were with the “red” status, i.e. infected with coronavirus, and 3,453 with the “yellow” status, i.e. those in close contact. Of these, 4,847 visitors were detected violating home quarantine between June 11 and August 3. 3,347 with the “red” status, 1,500 with the “yellow” status,” Beisenova added.

Those with the “red” status who do not stay at home could be fined, experts said. Violators of the self-isolation regime will face a fine of 30 monthly calculation indeces, which is more than 87,000 tenge, or over US$205.
