Special economic zone has great export potential

Focus on export! Special equipment assembled in the special economic zone “Astana – new city” will be supplied to countries abroad. The company makes equipment for the utilities and construction sectors. A new chassis line has been launched this year. The total value of the project will exceed 1 billion tenge (US$2.3 milion). It is planned to produce 6,000 tonnes of metal structures per year and assemble over 230 units of equipment at the plant.

“This plant is promising. It is an Italian brand. The enterprise is one of the world’s largest brands of trucks. High-quality goods are in great demand in Russia and other countries abroad now,” said  Bakytzhan Doskaziyev, CEO of the Astana Technopolis Special Economic Zone.

The recently launched production of so-called sandwich panels in Kazakhstan is also capable of entering foreign markets. The Kazakh plant has already proved its competitiveness. The production here is fully automated. The unique network that has no analogues in the country can manufacture one million square meters of products per year. Moreover, it is a 100-percent domestic product that uses only local raw materials.

“Now exports is of great interest. The price for steel has risen, for example, in Russia. This is the basic price for the panel. Therefore, there is an interest in products that we make,” added director of an enterprise Ruslan Tusupbekov.

The total export of production capacity of enterprises located in the “Astana – new city” special economic zone doubled last year. It is planned to achieve the same result this year as well.
