Kazakhstan’s state budget receives US$1.5 million for digital mining fees

Kazakhstan’s state budget received 652 million tenge (US$1.5 million) for digital mining fees in the first quarter of 2022, the State Revenue Committee reported. The fees came from 12 regions of the country. The largest amount worth 277 million tenge (US$638,302) to the state budget was transferred from the city of Nur-Sultan, followed by West Kazakhstan and Aktobe regions. Miners from these areas paid 143 (US$329,520) and 49 million tenge (US$112,912), respectively. Digital mining fees have been introduced since January 1 this year. Money is charged for the actual amount of consumed electric power. The tax rate is calculated at 1 tenge (US$0.0023) for 1 kilowatt per hour. Currently, the Kazakh Parliament is drafting a bill on digital assets, which envisages an increase in the mining tax.
