In search of the Ustyurt saiga

In this episode, with a group of experts the Outdoor KZ team will travel 1,000 kilometers across Aktobe and Mangystau Regions to see the Ustyurt saiga population – the smallest in Kazakhstan.

The saiga can be considered the world heritage. This species of antelopes has remained only in Kazakhstan and partially in Mongolia and Russia. Germany, although an economically powerful country, doesn’t enjoy such a biodiversity any more due to industrial development and dense population. Therefore, our country as well as the international community are investing into preservation of rare species worldwide. Not only the saiga, although it is a unique antelope which we have to preserve by all means. We see it as a global task.
