State Symbols Approval History

1992. The first president of the country Nursultan Nazarbayev, approves state symbols. 1200 flag designs, 750 versions of the national anthem and over 300 projects of the future coat of arms participated in the competition.

This significant photo was taken in July of the same year. It depicts a presentation of ready-made state symbols to the president of the republic. The author of the final version of the flag was the honoured artist of Kazakhstan, artist Shaken Niyazbekov. In the photograph, he is standing to Nursultan Nazarbayev’s right.
