Tatarinovskoe Stone Coal Mine in Chimkent Uyezd

In the 19th century, geological prospecting in Kazakhstan was carried out blindly and with numerous interruptions occurring due to the disappearance of the seams. These were the issues mining engineer Alexander Tatarinov complained about in his diaries. Tatarinov was the first person who discovered Lenger field in 1869. After some time, he got lucky again. During another scientific expedition on the Malaya Buguni River, Alexander Stepanovich came across rich coal deposits.

The field was called “Tatarinov”, and open-pit mining has started there.
