Kazakh women to learn advanced IT technologies of Silicon Valley

Female software developers from the CIS countries who want to become IT specialists will compete for a grant to study at the high-tech school in Nur-Sultan. The winners of the competition will receive full funding to study at the school of programming on a platform from Silicon Valley. They will learn such popular IT areas as web development, data analysis and software development absolutely free. Applicants will need to write a motivational essay, and then to be interviewed. According to the AIFC, when selecting the contestants, they will take into account not already acquired skills, but rather a strong desire to gain new knowledge. That is, even those who are going to learn modern skills from scratch can try as well. Only 20 participants will be able to gain experience in advanced training centers for programming. More than 100 people have already submitted applications.

“According to the data of the global aggregate of the programming school, the number of female software engineers has increased from 32 percent to 49 around the world. We want to increase the number of girls and women in this industry in Kazakhstan too, so we have launched this competition. The job prospects are very great. Companies operating in Kazakhstan as well as international ones already want to hire our graduates,” said Elmira Obry, Acting CEO, AIFC Bureau for Continuing Professional Development.

The winners will study remotely. The program will last nine months. Participants who receive study grants should plan at least 20-40 hours per week in their schedule. The process itself follows the method of active learning. As experts of the school said, students find answers on their own and make projects together.
