Kazakhstan to introduce Child Well-Being Index in 2022

Every child deserves a happy childhood. Kazakhstan plans to introduce a Child Well-Being Index in 2022. This indicator, taking into account all international requirements, is designed to cover all vital areas, including safety, health, education, welfare and socialization of children. This was discussed at a government meeting, which considered measures to protect the rights and ensure the safety of the younger generation. The index will monitor the performance of state bodies in improving the situation of little citizens of the country, Kazakh Prime Minister Askar Mamin said.

“It is important to ensure the safety of children on the streets, in educational institutions and during recreational activities. As is well known, the President of the country gave instructions to work out a plan of action for teachers and children in emergency situations, with appropriate training and awareness-raising activities. In this regard, I instruct the Ministry of Education and Science, the Ministry of Emergency Situations, and the Health Ministry, as well as Governors’ offices of the regions to prepare a roadmap on the provision of educational and leisure facilities with appropriate security infrastructure within two weeks,” Mamin said.
