CIS countries mark Environmental Education Day

Today, on May 12, the Environmental Education Day is observed in the CIS countries and in some European countries. Traditionally, this day has been marked by environmental campaigns, exhibitions and conferences designed to make the nature protection topic more relevant. Experts remind us that every Earthling must take care of our planet. First of all, it is about recreational culture. Ecotourism is now actively developing in Kazakhstan. To date, there are 13 national parks in the country. Without equipping them, it is impossible to avoid anthropogenic interference, experts say. Zones in the Almaty region will be set up in the near future. These will be a kind of visit centers where tourists are first welcomed and explained the rules of how to behave in nature. They also create all the conditions for a good rest. In addition, modern parking lots, toilet facilities, campings and comfortable hotels will soon appear on the Sharyn Canyon.

“The ‘Kazakh Tourism’ National Company developed a specific master plan for four national parks, which was submitted to the Ministry of Ecology, Geology and Natural Resources. Having adopted the standards we have developed, the relevant ministry is currently holding competitions to select the right strategic investor who will develop tourism in a particular national park. As a result of such a competition, the first visit center has already appeared and is successfully operating in the Ile-Alatau National Park. A number of other projects are underway,” said Yerzhan Yerkinbayev, Chairperson of ‘Kazakh Tourism’ National Company.
