Kazakhstan intends to celebrate Nauryz for 10 days

Nauryz in a new way - Kazakhstan intends to celebrate this holiday for a whole 10 days, instead of the usual four. A draft decree on the approval of such a concept has already been published on the ‘Open Legal Acts’ portal. Thus, from March 14 to 23, the country will host festivities, each day with its own theme. For example, the 21st of March will be the day of national cuisine, and the 18th of March will be the day of good deeds. This way, the local authorities decided to enrich the content of everyone’s favorite holiday and focus on national values.

“We always celebrate Nauryz and stand in line for pilaf. Well, 10 days is a bit too much, but that’s okay. We love such national holidays, we are always happy to celebrate them and just enjoy life!” said a resident of Kazakhstan.

“That’d be good, if we could go somewhere where there are gaieties, if there are places to go, rather than just sit at home,” noted one of the residents.

“I think it’s the right decision, because it’s a national holiday. It’s good that each of those days is a certain holiday. I read that every day will be devoted to a certain theme. So, I think, that’s the right thing to do. Why not? New Year holidays in Russia last for two weeks, and in China too,” added another resident.

President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev spoke of the need to change the usual Nauryz celebration format in his article on the 30th anniversary of Kazakhstan’s Independence. The new concept has already been approved by the Kazakh government.
