Photo exhibition about Kazakhstan kicks off in Brussels

A photo exhibition dedicated to the history, culture and traditions of the Kazakh people takes place in the building of the European Parliament, displaying pictures with views of Astana, ancient monuments of the state and famous Kazakh cultural figures. The exposition is dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Kazakhstan and the EU. At the opening of the exhibition, Kazakh Ambassador to Belgium Margulan Baimukhan noted that the Great Silk Road had set the ground for intercultural and trade exchange between Asia and Europe and still plays this important role. The diplomat also highlighted the country’s peaceful and multi-vector foreign policy.

“We strive to maintain good, constructive relations with the European Parliament. Our joint exhibition today will help all members of the Parliament, employees and guests of this European institution to learn more about the Kazakh history and traditions. I believe that this kind of cultural cooperation between us will make people better understand the specifics of our country and its advantages,” said Baimukhan.

“Kazakhstan plays a very important role not only as a country rich in minerals, but also as the ninth largest in the world. 11 percent of its territory is situated in Europe. It is a significant trade and investment partner of the EU. It is a multicultural and multinational state that has taken a clear course towards democratic and political reforms, including the development of the rule of law and fundamental human and citizen’s rights and freedoms, which provide good prospects for young people. This exhibition lets to recognize and imagine Kazakhstan as a good partner of the EU in the future,” Helmut Geuking, member of the European Parliament, said.
