Kazakh citizens take part in Berlin Marathon

Over 100 Kazakh citizens took part in one of the six largest races in the world – the Berlin Marathon. Diplomats, businesspeople, students and just the sports fans were among them. This year, more than 45,000 athletes from 157 countries participated in the running race. They had to come over the distance of just over 42 kilometers.

“Participation in such marathons is a holiday for the body and soul indeed. I didn't feel anything during the run. Everything went very smoothly. Actually, I enjoyed it a lot,” said participant of the Berlin Marathon Meiram Zhumagulov.

“This is my first world marathon major. Emotions are running  high. The road to Berlin was not easy for me. And the track itself was not effortless either. For me, this is about traveling to different countries. It also teaches us to be disciplined to sports, maintain a healthy lifestyle, and set the right example for the younger generation,” stressed another participant of the Berlin Marathon Zhadyra Taibassarova.

The fans accompanied the Kazakh marathon runners throughout the entire distance. The staff of the Kazakh embassy in Berlin came to support the athletes as well.

The winner of the Berlin Marathon this year was a runner from Kenya. Eliud Kipchoge completed the race in two hours, one minute and nine seconds, setting the world record.
