Number of foreign visitors to Kazakhstan approaches 200,000 year-to-date

The number of foreign tourists visiting Kazakhstan is increasing. According to the eQonaq information system, nearly 200,000 foreign travelers have visited the country since the beginning of the year. Mainly, these are tourists from neighboring Russia and Uzbekistan, as well as from Turkey, China and many other states. Statistics show that most often international arrivals begin their acquaintance with Kazakhstan with a visit to Almaty and Nur-Sultan. They are attracted by unique natural monuments that stand in harmony with historical structures and modern architecture. Kyzylorda and Mangystau regions are also among the most popular destinations for tourists from abroad.

“Initially, EQonaq was developed for migration registration of foreign tourists. Now, the system allows counting the total number of travelers and compiling statistical data about them. In addition, the system creates a real portrait of a tourist, identifying a person, his age, the destination he is going to, whether he visits the country for the first time or this is his second trip, as well as the regions and places he wants to visit,” said Daniyel Serzhanuly, Managing Director of Kazakh Tourism National Company.

The eQonaq information system was launched in November 2020. It currently covers three cities of national significance and 14 regional centers.
