Air Astana to pay over US$19,000 of fine for flight delays

Over nine million tenge of fine for flight delays over this year must be paid by Air Astana company. The Civil Aviation Committee explained the reasons behind imposing the administrative responsibility on the air carrier. In particular, an investigation is underway in connection with the violation of the rights of passengers. On June 5, a flight KC-7105 of the Fly Arystan low-cost airline, which is part of the Air Astana group of companies, en route from Almaty to Shymkent, was delayed for 15 hours and 10 minutes. However, the passengers were not provided with hotel accommodation.

“In this regard, on July 28, a Protocol on an administrative offense was drawn up against the airline under the article 567 of Kazakhstan’s Code on Administrative Offenses, according to which a fine of 1,000 Monthly Calculation Indexes (over three million tenge) was imposed on the airline. In total, for violation of the rights of passengers during flight delays this year, Air Astana group of companies was brought to administrative responsibility in the amount of 9,189,000 tenge,” the press service of the Civil Aviation Committee reported.
