ITER highly appreciates work of Kazakh experts

The work of Kazakh scientists was highly appreciated by foreign partners in the ITER project. The research group on the construction of an international thermonuclear reactor evaluated the project of the specialists from the National Nuclear Center of Kazakhstan as one of the best. 10 years ago, the construction of the reactor was launched to produce environmentally friendly energy in the south of France. Our scientists joined this project in 2017. They test the strength of materials under melting conditions. The results of this work will be used to create the world's largest thermonuclear chamber. Due to the pandemic, ITER's launch date was postponed. Now, the facility can be put into operation until 2027. The main goal of the project is to obtain a safe, environmentally friendly and unlimited source of energy.

“Our ITER partners are very grateful for our work. Seven leading countries participate in this project. I am proud that Kazakh National Nuclear Center is taking part in the search for an effective solution to the biggest problem in the history of humankind,” said Erlan Batyrbekov, the Director General of the National Nuclear Center of Kazakhstan.
