Ethno-сamps opened for school students in Mangystau region

This summer, school students in the Mangystau region will study the history of the region, traditions and customs of the Kazakh people in ethno-camps. One of them opened 20 kilometers from Aktau. Thanks to a specially developed program, teenagers will learn the basics of applied art, how to play the dombyra, horse riding skills as well as the rules of national games. Togyzkumalak tournaments will be held here. Children will master the rules of the intellectual game several times a week.

“This camp is unusual. There are so many interesting things to learn about yarn. We learn to work with a spindle ‘urshyk’. Today I learned how to sew a headdress ‘takiya’,” said school student Kausar Sissenbayeva.

“This is my first time at the camp. We are taught to play the dombyra. It turns out it’s not that hard,” shared school student Nuraskan Serik.

“Ethno-camps were organized in three schools in our district. In addition, a tourist camp was opened at the Gorky High School. One of its features is a tent city set up near the sacred site of Sultan-epe, which is located 75 km from the regional center of Fort Shevchenko. Children will be able to vacation there for 7 days,” head of the Education Department of the Tupkaragan district, Aibarshyn Utesbayeva, noted.

252 camps were opened in Mangystau region this summer. With the start of the season, out-of-town children’s leisure centers also began to work off the coast of the Caspian Sea. In total, more than 140,000 school students in the region will vacation in the health and school camps.
