Fish stocking helps clean Lake Kopa

More than 20,000 fry were released into the Lake Kopa in Akmola region. Grass carp and silver carp fingerlings, which were raised in a fish hatchery, were released into their natural habitat. Experts note that stocking during this period ensures good survival of fish and their adaptation to the lake. This will diversify the local fauna and positively affect the ecological state of the lake. Earlier, five million larvae were released into the reservoir.

“If, for comparison, two-three years ago, the percentage of oxygen in the Lake Kopa was 5 percent, now we have raised it to 7-8 percent. Five-six years ago, this lake was in a very deplorable state, the sanitary condition was so bad that there was an unpleasant smell. Now, this reservoir is in a normal state, so to speak, thanks to the stocking of fish. Because these types of fish clean the lake in a natural way,” said Bolat Tokishev, Representative of Akmola Region Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Use Regulation.
