Opening of cultural season ‘Francophone Spring-2022’

Approximately 20 best films in French will be shown in Kazakhstan as part of the Francophone Cinema Week. It will be held from April 2 to 10th in six cities of the country. In addition to the film festival, which will be organized as part of the opening of the annual traditional cultural season Francophone Spring, these cities will host concerts, exhibitions, conferences and meetings with cultural figures for the entire month. Also, French language Olympiads will be held in the five countries of Central Asia. Everyone who wishes can participate in them for free. Several diplomatic missions will be involved in the celebration of the Francophone Spring 2022 festival. These are the embassies of France, Belgium, Egypt, Canada, Lebanon, Morocco, Romania and Switzerland.

“The festival will take place in Nur-Sultan, Almaty, Shymkent, Karagandy, Oskemen and Kostanai cities. Like last year, our goal is to show the diversity of the French language and Francophone cultures. We have tried to build a diverse and interesting program for the general public. Our ambition is to reflect the diversity of Francophonie, as it represents a large family, today 321 million people in the world speak French. This is the 5th most common language in the world and today this number is growing,” said Didier Canesse, French Ambassador to Kazakhstan.
