“Fundamental changes begin in the country,” expert says

Political analysts have already expressed the view that the reforms outlined by the country’s President were a shock to a certain part of the financial and industrial groups, large businesses and oligarchs. According to political scientist and director of the Institute for Eurasian Integration Urazgali Selteyev, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, during his speech in the Mazhilis, identified problems that hindered the development of Kazakhstan's economy.

“This includes the construction of LRT, the problem of EPR, vehicle utilization fees. It directly affected people. This was a massively unfair increase in tariffs that affected every citizen’s daily life. It was about cars, which are the means of transportation. It is the same thing as an apartment, like housing, like a roof over your head. It is important that we get into action now. The time for half measures is over, and a fundamental transformation of everything is now beginning. It is simply a fundamental transformation in the way the country is governed,” Urazgali Selteyev, political scientist, Director of Eurasian Integration Institute.
