Heads of diplomatic missions comment on situation in Kazakhstan

The heads of diplomatic missions extend their words of support and condolences to the families of the victims of terrorist attacks in the country. British Ambassador to Kazakhstan Kathy Leach wrote the following on her Twitter account:

“The violence and destruction faced by the citizens of Almaty over the past week has been shocking. Other cities have also suffered violent attacks. On this National Day of Mourning, on behalf of HM Government I send my deepest condolences to the families and loved ones of those who have tragically lost their lives. We stand with Kazakhstan as it recovers from these devastating events,” Leach tweeted.

President of the European Council Charles Michel also made a post on his Twitter account, commenting on his meeting with the Head of State, which took place on Monday in Akorda.

“Discussed latest developments in Kazakhstan with president Tokayev. Expressed condolence for loss of life on Kazakhstan’s day of mourning. Stressed importance of EU-Kazakhstan partnership and support to sovereignty, security and stability in full respect of human rights and fundamental freedoms,” the European Council President noted.

Turkey also commented on the recent events in Kazakhstan.

“We deeply regret the incidents and deaths in Kazakhstan. Peace and stability in Kazakhstan are our top priorities. Turkey will always be on the side of Kazakhstan,” said Ibrahim Kalin, Spokesperson for Turkish President.
