Alikhan Smailov appointed Prime Minister of Kazakhstan

Alikhan Smailov was appointed the Prime Minister of Kazakhstan. His candidacy was proposed by Head of State Kassym-Jomart Tokayev during a meeting of the Mazhilis, Lower House of the Kazakh Parliament. Over the years, Smailov held the post of the Assistant to the Kazakh President.  Before that, for five years he served as the Chairman of the Kazakhstan Agency on Statistics. During his career, he was twice appointed the Deputy Minister of Finance of Kazakhstan. Prior to the resignation of the government in 2019, he worked as the Minister of Finance.
