Kazakhstan allocates US$46 million for mass sport popularization

Over 20 billion tenge (US$46 million) will be allocated for the development of mass sports in 2022, the Ministry of Culture and Sports reported. According to the relevant department, these funds will enable about 180,000 children to attend various clubs free of charge. In his state-of-the-nation address, President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev spoke about the need to involve residents of regional and district centers in mass sports. So, this year, local executive bodies allocated from the budget more than seven billion tenge (US$16.1 million) for these purposes. Thanks to this, 146,425 people are already attending free sports and art clubs. Experts note that the implemented mechanism for the per capita funding of clubs will create healthy competition in the provision of quality services among providers in this area, which in turn will necessarily give a strong impetus to the engagement of children and adolescents in sports.
