“Qazaq. History of the Golden Man” film premiered in Belarus
A film about Kazakhstan’s First President “Qazaq. History of The Golden Man” was premiered at the private screening during the Minsk International Film Festival “Listapad”. In the movie, Nursultan Nazarbayev shares his memories of his life and remarkable events in recent history: the collapse of the Soviet Union, the closure of the Semipalatinsk nuclear test site, and the current role of Kazakhstan in the global arena. An international film crew headed by the Academy Award-winning film director and Hollywood star Oliver Stone worked on the movie. The music for the film was written by famous Italian composer and conductor Carlo Siliotto. The filmmakers are sure that it will open up the new Kazakhstan for viewers.
“No one knew why Nursultan Nazarbayev did not come to Belavezhskaya Pushcha, where Stanislav Shushkevich, Leonid Kravchuk and Boris Yeltsin were. He spoke about this for the first time in our film. There are several other points that I would like to keep in secret before the TV premiere. Kazakhstan will be the first to watch the TV version of our film. One thing for sure, our film is interesting to viewers. When I saw the eyes of Italians who cried, I was really touched, because this film would not have been made without Kazakhs,” said Igor Kobzev, a film producer.
“Why it may be interesting for Minsk? Because Belarus is our fraternal country, fraternal people to Kazakh people, and I think that these are peoples who have common interests. I believe that the authority that Nursultan Nazarbayev has with Alexander Lukashenko, he has among Belarusian citizens as well,” said Igor Lopatonok, a film director.
The 8-episode TV version of the film will be on the screens of Kazakhstan very soon. The “Golden Man” has already been included in the race for the Oscars and even received the first musical nomination. After Belarus, the movie will continue to be screened in the United Arab Emirates, France, Germany, Japan and China.
