Astana Opera theatre prepares grand premiere of “Alpamys” opera

The Astana Opera theatre is preparing the grand premiere of the year – “Alpamys” opera by Yerkegali Rakhmadiyev to the 30th anniversary of Kazakhstan’s Independence. The heroic performance will be presented in completely new vision of the fantasy genre. Along with miracles and transformations, passions will run high on the stage, directors promise.

“What is it unique for? This opera was written in 1973 and was staged until the collapse of the Soviet Union. In 30 years, with a new trend, this opera is now staged in a new, updated version. Speaking of opera, the main characters are Alpamys, his beloved Gulbarshin, and also opponents Taishyq Khan, Mystan kempir, Qaraman and others,” said Azamat Zheltyrguzov, Opera Company Director.

Everything is interesting here, from an exciting plot dedicated to the national epic hero to the musical drama of the work – the performers glorify the love and struggle of the Kazakh people for happiness, freedom and their motherland. The main roles will be played by Rassul Zharmagambetov and Zhamilya Jarkimbayeva. The legend will be revived on the stage by the famous Russian stage director Yuri Alexandrov.

The Alpamys opera will be premiered on December 3 and 4. According to stage directors, it will be possible to enjoy it again, because now this play will replenish the treasury of masterpieces of the national opera art and will enter the repertoire of the capital’s theatre.
