Book ‘Archaeology of Kazakhstan’ gets published in English

The land of modern Kazakhstan was first inhabited by ancient people a million years ago. Historians previously believed that the process began much later - about 510,000 years ago. Such facts are brought up by scientists in the scientific book "Archaeology of Kazakhstan". It describes the most important discoveries of famous domestic researchers in recent years. In particular, the fundamental work widely covers the period from the Paleolithic to the late Middle Ages, and also shows the significance of individual monuments in domestic historiography. The book consisting of six chapters and 630 pages provides a detailed analysis of the most striking finds, and most importantly, explains the origins, connections and development of the ancient culture of Kazakh ancestors. The authors of the book Karl Baipakov and Zhaken Taimagambetov described the most important excavations made in Eurasia. The new discoveries will be of interest to the foreign academic community, that’s why the book was published in English.

“The book was first published in Russian in 2007. It was followed by a Kazakh edition in 2009. The work was supplemented by new discoveries about the developments on the territory of Kazakhstan during the Stone Age and the Middle Ages. And now this book is coming out in English. I often go abroad. Foreigners follow with interest the progress and development of Kazakh archaeology and ask questions. But they say they can’t find enough information. So, in the run-up to Independence Day, we finally published this book,” said Zhaken Taimagambetov, member of Kazakh National Academy of Sciences.
