Kazakhstan submits “Yellow Cat” film by Adilkhan Yerzhanov to Academy Awards

The Oscar Committee of Kazakhstan submitted the film “Yellow Cat” directed by Adilkhan Yerzhanov for the Best International Feature Film in the Academy Awards. The world premiere of the movie took place last year in the “Horizons” Competition at the 77th Venice International Film Festival. Later on, the film took part in several other festivals and won many awards, including the Grand Prix in the Italian city of Verona and the Belgian city of Bruges. Adilkhan Yerzhanov was also recognized as the best film director for this work at the Hope Film Festival in Stockholm.

The film “Yellow Cat” tells the story of the Kazakh version of “Bonnie and Clyde”. This is the story about the difficulties that stood in the way of the couple that is encountering the hostile world. The key cast was Russian actor Azamat Nigmanov and young Kazakh actress Kamila Nugmanova.
