Over 17 million Kazakh residents complete 2021 census

Almost 92 percent of Kazakhs residents, and this is over 17 million people, took part in the National Census. At the same time, 40.5 percent of respondents completed the survey online. This was announced by the head of the Bureau of National Statistics Nurbolat Aidapkelov.

“Almaty city is leading in passing the census. Here the number of survey participants totals 107.5 percent. Turkistan region took the second place and Zhambyl region – the third. In these regions, 98.6 percent of the population took part in the survey,” Aidapkelov said.

Residents of East Kazakhstan, Kyzylorda and Zhambyl regions preferred to pass the census online. The respondents from Almaty, Shymkent and Almaty region basically took the census in the old fashioned way - in the traditional format.

“The census was completed ahead of schedule in Balkhash and Kerbulak districts of Almaty region. Also, the poll ended in Abai district of East Kazakhstan region and in eight districts of Pavlodar region,” Aidapkelov added.

Control round is planned to be held on from November 1 to 7.
