Shooting of new film about Zhambyl kicks off in Almaty

The confrontation of the person and the ideological machine - This is the basis of the plot of the new feature film “Zhambyl. The New Era.” The shooting has kicked off in Almaty. The movie tells about the life and work of the outstanding Kazakh akyn Zhambyl Zhabayev. The film project dedicated to his 175th birth anniversary was put into production by the order of the Ministry of Culture and Sports with the assistance of the State Center for Support of National Cinema. According to film director Zhandos Kussainov, the movie tells about significant events that influenced the life of Zhambyl. It includes the gathering of akyns (improvising poets and singers), the publication of his poems in newspapers and magazines, the visit of Joseph Gilman from Moscow, as well as his meetings with Oraz Zhandossov, Bauyrzhan Momyshuly and other prominent figures of the era. The leading roles will be played by famous actors and honored artists of Kazakhstan. The film creators noted that the shooting will also continue next year. 

“We are now in Zhambyl district of Almaty region, we will be shooting here for three days. Then we will relocate to Talgar district. Our filming process is divided into several periods and seasons. Now, in the autumn, we are filming the 90th anniversary of Zhambyl. We start working on the set at four or five in the morning. Our workload is increasing every day since we began filming just three days ago. Our team is complete. All the actors were approved through the casting,” Zhandossov said.
