Ancient artifacts found in Turkistan region

Historical artifacts were found at the bottom of the Shardara reservoir. The employees of the rural museum of local history carried out excavations on a shallow area. Bronze bowls and jugs, household items of the ancient peoples who inhabited the region, were taken out of sand and clay. Fragments of building materials, clay sewer pipes were also encountered. The archaeologists assumed that the finds date back to 6-8 centuries AD. According to historians, the area around the Shardara reservoir covers many memories of ancient eras. Artefacts of the Karakhanids times have been found here before.

“The excavations of the area are currently well underway. We found a lot of interesting and unique things, even a stone statue, but it is slightly damaged. Now we are officially registering all this, conducting a detailed inventory. Then we will study them, and only after that they will replenish the fund of our museum,” said Nurlan Smailov, Director of the Museum of Local History.
