Days of Russian culture kick off in Kazakhstan

Days of Russian Culture kicked off in Kazakhstan. The exhibition ‘Vologda Lace’ was opened in the National Museum of Kazakhstan as part of the cultural program. The exhibition displays unique works of decorative and applied art from the collection of the Vologda State Historical and Architectural Art Museum Reserve. These are panels, tablecloths, napkins, as well as clothes decorated with delicate openwork patterns. The presented exhibits are works by famous masters. The pieces were created by hand in traditional coupling weaving technique. This type of craft is more than 200 years old. In addition, lacemaking masterclasses were held for the exhibition visitors. Those wishing to get acquainted with the art of Vologda lace in Nur-Sultan have time until October 17.

“A wide variety of exhibits are presented here, including those dating back many years to the beginning of the twentieth century. But there are also modern exhibits that fashion ladies from any country will be happy to wear. Nowadays, Vologda lace is greatly appreciated both in Paris and Italy. I have no doubt that anyone who comes to the exhibition will find something interesting for themselves,” said Olga Yarilova, Russian Deputy Minister of Culture.
