“Atameken” expedition of journalists comes to end

The “Atameken” expedition that lasted for a month came to an end. The project was dedicated to the 30th anniversary of Kazakhstan’s Independence. The first group started from the capital, traveled around western Kazakhstan, southern regions and reached the city of Almaty. The second group arrived there from the eastern Kazakhstan. The participants of the trip visited historical and tourist sites that are trademark of each region. The expedition ended with a visit to the tourist attractions of Almaty, such as Shymbulak, Koktobe and Saka mounds. The project was organized by the employees of the national newspapers “Egemen Qazaqstan” and “Kazakhstanskaya Pravda”. Their journalists published nearly 15 articles and travel descriptions about the picturesque places of the country.

“Through this expedition, we wanted to show the achievements reached over the years of independence, compare the level of the country’s regions, what it used to be and what it has become. The results will be summed up in Almaty – the golden cradle of our independence and freedom,” said Aibyn Shagalakov, Deputy Chairperson of the “Egemen Qazaqstan” national newspaper.
