Shymkent Opera and Ballet Theater arrives in Nur-Sultan

The Shymkent City Opera and Ballet Theater will perform in Nur-Sultan. The troupe under the guidance of Honored Artist of Kazakhstan Maira Mukhamedkyzy will present the play ‘Domalak Ana’. The production recently appeared in the theater’s repertoire, and has already been highly appreciated by music lovers. The opera is dedicated to the 30th anniversary of Kazakhstan’s Independence. According to the authors, the musical performance uncovers the image of the Holy Mother characteristic of the Kazakh people. In addition, the play tells about one of the most popular and significant events in the history of the country. The opera was composed by Taskyn Zharmukamet, who created music to the libretto of Honored Figure of Kazakhstan Askhat Mayemirov. Famous Kazakh art figures will perform the leading parts at the Astana Opera’s stage.

“I am grateful to the First President of Kazakhstan for opening the Opera and Ballet Theater in Shymkent in 2008. Our theater has 19 operas and three ballets. We prepared the opera ‘Domalak Ana’ in two months, this is indeed a record, because it takes at least six months to prepare such a large-scale performance. We had to combine all efforts with the team of our theater, the composer. I think this is a very good indicator,” Mukhamedkyzy said.
