Kazakh rescuers participate in forest fire fighting in Turkey

Kazakh rescuers went to help Turkish firefighters. Domestic helicopters are extinguishing forest fires in southwestern Turkey. The aircraft, together with a specially trained crew on board, has recently spent more than 10 hours in the sky. On the instructions of President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, two helicopters equipped with water drainage devices and a task force of 16 rescuers were sent to Turkey.

“On August 12, 2021, the integrated operational teams of Kazakh Ministry of Emergency Situations started extinguishing wildfires in the area surrounding the town of Dalaman. 45 water discharge cycles were carried out in the course of combatting the fire. Overall, about 180 cubic meters of water were discharged into the fires. Firefighting will continue today and tomorrow,” said Asset Zhylkaidarov, spokesperson for Kazakh Ministry of Emergency Situations.
